My New Job

After I graduated from Texas State this past May, I applied for one job and had a phone interview that didn't go any further.  I was mostly focused on wedding planning which took up much of my time.  I also had the thought that starting a new job right before departing for a week long honeymoon would probably not put me in the new employer's good graces.

Flash forward to post-wedding life, I have been applying for the jobs I'm qualified for and was asked to interview for one a little over a week ago.  I haven't interviewed in person for a job in about six and a half years (the amount of time I've been working at Sam's).  I bought a special professional outfit and professional purse, I practiced answering interview questions, and I thought I was ready.  I was so nervous and feel like I didn't do as well as I could have.  Afterwards, I was thinking it would be amazing if I got the job, but there was probably someone that interviewed much better than I did.

Five days later, my phone was ringing with the number of the person that interviewed me and I immediately thought, "It's so nice that they are calling to tell me I didn't get the job, I was thinking they would just send an email."  Instead, they offered me the job!  It was definitely one of my top ten most awesome days ever.  As soon as I got off the phone, I had uncontrollable happy tears.  I immediately called my husband to share my happiness.  Then, knowing I had to be at work soon, I started writing my resignation letter.  It was a very weird feeling, knowing that I would soon be ending my time at a job I have held for six and a half years with people I see for 30 hours out of every week.  I don't think it will really be real for me until I start my new job.

I couldn't be happier.  First, I graduated from what seemed like an endless school going career.  Then, I married my best friend and soul mate.  Now, I'm starting a career with a wonderful company doing something I already love to do.  I'm finally getting my grown-up, 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday job.  Life is amazing!

Deftones!

My favorite band throughout the better part of middle school and high school was the Deftones.  I adored them and specifically loved Chino Moreno (the lead singer).  Well, last night, I went to a sold out show in San Antonio and saw them for the second time in my life.  The first time was also in San Antonio with my sister way back in 2001.  After 11 years, I am happy to say this time was even better than the first.  They played all of my favorite songs; Digital Bath, Change (in the House of Flies), Passenger, Feiticeira, My Own Summer, Bored, 7 Words, and more.  I went with my awesome friends Lily and Javi and their friend Nina.  It was super fun!  The only thing I would change is having them play a longer set.  It just left me wanting more and completely restarted my mad crush on Chino.  Le sigh.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!  :D

UPDATE!

The last few months=blogging fail

I aspire to be a better blogger.  Let's see what happens!

Since my last post, I have:

become married to my love and best friend

honeymooned in Hawaii
welcomed my BFF and her adorable daughter home for keeps
I think those are the big ones.

Everyone keeps asking (mostly co-workers who feel it's the best way to start casual conversation), how is married life?!  The answer is; it's awesome!!!  We've been together for 10 years, so there aren't many more surprises.  Honeymooning is awesome though.  Hawaii was beautiful (and expensive, but totally worth it).  The one surprise I've encountered so far is the struggle to get a complete name change.  I just got my new driver's license in the mail today (after first getting my marriage license, then new social security card).  Now, I have to change my name for my bank account, credit cards, and any other bills in my name.  It's worth it though.  I love being a Lambert and being a wife.  I can't even express how awesome it is to refer to Josh as my husband instead of my boyfriend or fiance (the French are overrated).

On another subject, Bailey's daughter is the most adorable baby I've ever seen.  I thought having a baby in my life without being my own would vanquish this case of baby fever I've had for the past year or so.  Instead, it has elevated the fever!  It isn't in the cards for Josh and I to have a baby yet.  So, until that time, Josh and I will admire Avery with our baby loving googly eyes every chance we get.  PS-Avery was sleeping in my lap the other night and laughed in her sleep.  It was on my top five list of most awesome moments ever and I almost cried.

Just a side note as to why I randomly decided to blog tonight, my husband fell asleep about an hour ago.  We went to Trudy's, had a couple of Mexican martinis, came home, and he was out like a light.  His precious snores have kept me smiling throughout this post.

Bridal Shower

This past Saturday, I had my bridal shower at my parent's house.  Although I was really nervous, it ended up being so much fun.  Everyone seemed to have a pretty good time, so I think it was a success.  I was also really impressed with the amount of people willing to drive out to my parent's house, it is a bit of a journey.  It was awesome to have so many great friends in one place, I had such a great time.

We started with some "Bride Bingo" (this is the only game I would allow, lol)

My mom busted out the fancy champagne glasses
Scrapbooking was our other activity.  Now I have the most awesome wedding scrapbook ever because it was contributed to by all my friends.
The cute favors my sister made.

Scrapin' it up.
